The short answer

What Profhilo treatment is

Profhilo has one of the highest concentrations of hyaluronic acid on the market, the substance your skin makes to hold on to water. Unlike a dermal filler, it is not designed to add volume. It spreads out under the skin from 10 small injection points and prompts your skin to make more of its own collagen, elastin and hyaluronic acid.

The result is better skin quality: tighter, more hydrated, more radiant skin that still looks like you. Profhilo is also used on the neck, chest, hands and abdomen. Dr Oli offers it at UNTIL Soho and UNTIL Marylebone.

Profhilo treatments in Soho and Marylebone

Profhilo for the face

Profhilo for the face treats the whole face in one session. It spreads out under the skin over 24 to 48 hours and prompts your skin to make more collagen, elastin and hyaluronic acid. Skin looks tighter, more hydrated and more radiant, and results keep building for 8 weeks after your second session.

Profhilo injection points: the BAP technique

BAP stands for Bio Aesthetic Points. These are 5 set injection points on each side of the face, chosen by the maker of Profhilo to help the product spread and to avoid major blood vessels and nerves. The whole face needs only 10 injections and 2ml of product, where older skin boosters needed dozens of injections.

Profhilo for the neck, hands and body

Profhilo is also used on the neck, chest, hands and abdomen, anywhere skin has become dry or loose and extra volume is not the goal. The course is the same: two sessions four weeks apart, then maintenance. The chest and hands often show age sooner than the face, so they are popular areas to treat alongside it.

Profhilo vs dermal fillers

Dermal fillers are gels designed to stay where they are placed and add volume. Profhilo is designed to spread and improve the quality of the skin. Fillers last 9 to 18 months and treat lost volume, while Profhilo results build over 8 weeks and last about 6 months. The two work well together: Profhilo can improve your skin before filler, or keep it in good condition between filler treatments.

Profhilo vs polynucleotides

Both treatments boost your skin's own collagen. Profhilo spreads under the skin and improves hydration and firmness across the face. Polynucleotides hydrate the skin and calm inflammation, which suits delicate areas such as under the eyes. Many people combine them over a course of treatment, with Profhilo for the face and polynucleotides under the eyes.

Profhilo can help to:

Hydrate dry, tired skin

Profhilo holds a high amount of hyaluronic acid, which binds water in the skin. Skin looks more hydrated and more radiant as the results build.

Firm crepey or slightly loose skin

It prompts your skin to make more collagen and elastin. This helps early loose skin on the lower face and crepey skin around the eyes look firmer.

Bring back your glow

Profhilo is used for skin that has lost its glow. The change builds gradually over about 8 weeks, and the shape of your face stays the same.

Improve skin on the neck, chest and hands

The same treatment works on the neck, chest, hands and abdomen, where dry or loose skin often shows. It follows the same course of two sessions.

Get your skin ready for filler

Profhilo can improve your skin before dermal filler, or keep it in good condition between filler treatments.

Profhilo from consultation to aftercare

Every Profhilo course starts with a consultation, because Profhilo treats skin quality and some concerns need volume instead. Dr Oli checks your skin, explains whether Profhilo suits you and confirms your plan and price.

Consultation.

Dr Oli looks at your skin and checks whether skin quality or lost volume is your main concern. You get your plan and the full-face price before treatment.

Preparation.

Avoid ibuprofen, aspirin, vitamin E, fish oil and alcohol for 24 to 48 hours before, to lower the risk of bruising. Drink plenty of water the day before and come without makeup.

Treatment.

Dr Oli makes 10 small injections, 5 on each side of the face. Each one takes 15 to 30 seconds, and the whole treatment is done in under 15 minutes.

Aftercare.

Small bumps appear at each point and settle within 24 to 48 hours. Avoid makeup, pressure and massage on the area for 12 hours, and saunas, hard exercise and alcohol for 24 hours.

Course and upkeep.

The course is 2 sessions, 4 weeks apart. Results show from 2 weeks, build until 8 weeks after the second session and last about 6 months, so most people repeat the course twice a year.

Profhilo treatment FAQs

How long does Profhilo last?

Profhilo results at Dr Oli Aesthetics last about 6 months. They peak 8 to 10 weeks after the second session of the starter course (two sessions, four weeks apart). Most patients repeat the course twice a year, often in spring and autumn, and with regular maintenance some stretch the interval to 8 months.

Do I need a consultation before Profhilo?

Yes. Every Profhilo plan at Dr Oli Aesthetics starts with a consultation. Dr Oli checks whether skin quality or lost volume is your main concern, explains whether Profhilo or another treatment suits you better, and confirms your plan and your full-face price before treatment.

Is Profhilo suitable for all skin types?

Yes. Profhilo at Dr Oli Aesthetics suits all skin types, from very fair to very dark (Fitzpatrick I to VI), and it does not carry the risk of dark marks that some lasers carry on darker skin. It is not suitable in pregnancy or breastfeeding, with a hyaluronic acid allergy, or during an autoimmune flare affecting the skin.

What is the difference between Profhilo and a dermal filler?

Dermal fillers add volume to one area, such as the lips, cheeks or jawline, and hold that shape for 12 to 18 months. Profhilo spreads through the skin and boosts your own collagen and elastin, improving skin quality for about 6 months. At Dr Oli Aesthetics, most patients over 35 benefit from both.

Can I have Profhilo on my body?

Yes. Dr Oli Aesthetics uses Profhilo on the neck, chest, hands and abdomen, anywhere skin has become dry or loose and extra volume is not the goal. The course is the same as for the face: two sessions four weeks apart, then maintenance. The chest and hands often show age sooner than the face.

Is there downtime after Profhilo?

There is very little downtime after Profhilo at Dr Oli Aesthetics, and most patients go back to work the same afternoon. The 10 small bumps settle within 24 to 48 hours. Avoid makeup, pressure and massage on the area for 12 hours, and saunas, hard exercise and alcohol for 24 hours.

Can I combine Profhilo with anti-wrinkle injections or filler?

Yes. At Dr Oli Aesthetics, Profhilo can be done on the same day as anti-wrinkle injections. Dermal fillers are usually spaced 2 weeks before or after Profhilo, so each product settles on its own. Microneedling and peels need 2 weeks either side, while laser can share the appointment as Bio-Boost.
